The above link points to free software supposely allows you to link remote networks to virtual local networks. I'm leaving this information here because eariler developments of VPN access requires much more network requirements than simple tcp ports (with this software).

Update:
I finally had a chance to evaluate this software and am very satisfied with it. The only potential risks in using this software are the remote host(s) you connect to - I hightly recommend if you use this software you *trust* the computer you are connecting to.

I tested this software with two Internet Connections - Cable 16Mbit/1.5Mbit and DSL 1.5Mbit/384Kbit and two computers. Both computers were behind a firewall and connected flawlessly to each other. With both computer's on both Internet's I was able to broswe each other's files and transfer files as fast as the Internet connection would allow. At the same time while transfering files through the VPN I noticed legancy - which is normal, considering they share the same virtual connection. Other than that, say for example when I was not transfering any files and there was nothing else going through both Internet's surprisingly my legancy was near exactly the same as a direct Internet connect (about 30ms-50ms).

In the end, I highly recommend this software for anyone to use in purposes of connecting two or more computers through the Internet. Example: Games, Easy File Transfers, Secure Chatting, etc.
