Unable to connect to server.
One of four things could have caused this:
1. You are behind a firewall.
2. You are not connected to the internet.
3. The games server is down.
4. You have a stale page in your cache.

You have an old version of the client in your cache.
You will need to restart your broswer and come back to retreive the current version.
If restarting does not work, manually clearing your browser's cache should fix the problem.
Problem:
When you attempt to play the basic or flash edition of yahoo games.
Solution:
If you are behind a firewall or using a proxy server, you may be unable to play Yahoo! Games. Firewalls need to open port 11999. You will need TCP inbound and outbound access for this port. The games hosts are currently yog1.yahoo.com, yog2.yahoo.com, ... up to yog33.yahoo.com. You will need to do a nslookup on these hosts to find out the IP addresses.
In my case, the issue was the TCP outgoing port 11999 was blocked. I had to check every firewall I had in place to allow access to Yahoo games such as Chess.
EDIT: Uses CIDR: 209.73.160.0/19 and yog##.games.scd.yahoo.com as the host.
