No matter how many CD-ROM's, DVD, or burner devices you may have (one, two or more); via USB, IDE or SATA Windows sometimes fails to load the drivers correctly and is represented in the DEVICE MANAGER with an exclamation mark (!).
Cause:
There are many causes why Windows all of the sudden fails to load drivers for your CD-ROM.
1. Data corruption.
2. Virus and/or Malware infection.
3. Easy CD Creater Uninstallation issues or other related CD burning software.
Solution:
Locate and delete the 'UpperFilters' and 'LowerFilters' values under the following key in the registry:
- Code: Select all
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
After you have successfully deleted the registries, restart your computer.
